EastAgri 2014, an annual conference organised by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), was held in Belgrade on 18 and 19 June. The central topic of the conference – how to achieve quality and quantity in food production in Europe and Central Asia – brought together the highest-level officials of the Serbian Government, international institutions involved in the development of agriculture and agroindustry, and representatives of the agribusiness companies that operate in the region.

The company Victoria Group has donated over 15.5 million Dinars so far in assistance for the most vulnerable of our fellow citizens and for repairing the damage caused by the recent floods in Serbia.

A meeting attended by the delegation of the Independent Association of Serbian Farmers, the director of the Industrijsko Bilje Business Association and oil industry representatives – the companies Victoria Group, Dijamant and Banat, was held at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management on 5 March 2014. The meeting resulted in an agreement on the basis of which the companies will pay a guaranteed initial price of 250 euros per ton of sunflower, while the final price will be the market price, not less than the stated initial amount.

Serbian athlete Amela Terzic won a silver medal at the European Cross Country Championship in Usce in Belgrade, in a competition with younger seniors, and thus continued a series of successes in this event, ever since she won gold last year in Budapest in the junior competition. Terzic is a scholar of the company Victoria Group, which, over the next three years, shall sponsor her three-year preparation for the 2016 Olympic Games.

A delegation of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce visited the International exhibition of equipment and technological solutions in environmental Protection and energetics - Pollutec Horizons 2013 - which was held last week in Paris. Victoria Group was represented by Svetlana Stanic, head of security and safety at work, and environmental protection, and Jelena Mitrovic, technical manager for project development.

From November 25 to 29, the XII Council on Crop Protection took place on Zlatibor mountain. This Council traditionally represents the latest expert know-how and scientific research papers of domestic and foreign authors. Each year, the seminar is attended by a great number of researchers and experts in the field of crop protection. The continually hot topic is the establishment of a firmer cooperation amongst scientific institutions, the agricultural sector, and the regulatory bodies responsible for crop protection.

Victoria Group has again this year supported the “Magic Breakfast” humanitarian action intended for children with disabilities by donating sunflower oil. The action took place in Belgrade with the support of the Secretariat for Social Welfare, with the purpose of collecting food for schools for disabled children and promoting solidarity with socially vulnerable groups.

The Third Agricultural Forum “Food for Europe” took place in Subotica from 17 to 19 October 2013. Discussion on investments in Serbia’s agribusiness, which was the central topic of the Forum, brought together around 150 participants including representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, numerous companies and professional associations and institutions.

Victoria Group Chief Executive Officer Zoran Mitrović took part in the panel discussion “The necessary reforms to achieve macroeconomic stability” that took place as part of the 13th Economic Summit of the Republic in Serbia, held earlier this week at the Metropol Palace Hotel.
