Wheat harvesting comes to a close

Wheat harvesting is coming to a close. This year, wheat has been sown on an area of 600,000 hectares, and this year's yield will amount to three million tons, which is 20% more compared to last year. Many producers in Vojvodina have achieved above-average yields – from six to eight tons per hectare.

For the past five years, Serbia has been ahead of the USA, Canada and Russia with its wheat yield of 4.3 tons per hectare, while in some parts of Vojvodina, it has reached the level of the world leaders – Germany and France. The average yield is expected to exceed five tons for the first time in history.
