Company Sojaprotein (joint-stock company) was founded in 1985. In 2002 it became a member of Victoria Group business system, which currently holds 62.94% of share capital. Company headquarters are in Becej and it currently
employs 372 people. Sojaprotein is currently listed on the A list of the Belgrade Stock Exchange, together with two more companies.
The company’s main activity is processing of soybeans. Storage capacity of the factory is 100.000 t of soybeans. Processing capacity is around 300.000 t per year and company processes around 230.000 t of soybean, which is 70% of total quantity of soybean produced in Serbia. Company produces following groups of soybean products: products for the food industry, products for animal nutrition and products intended for direct human nutrition.In the structure of production the dominant share is held by soybean meal and crude de-gummed oil. In 2009 production of products intended for human consumption was doubled, those products also being used in meat-processing, baking, confectioning and pharmaceutical industries. The Company holds a dominant position in both Serbian market and the Southeast European market, when it comes to production of soybeans and soy products. Company’s share in Serbian market of raw soybean oil is 40%, and in domestic soybean meal market it is around 50%. Since all of the factory’s products are created from plant varieties that are not genetically modified and mainly grown on Serbian fields, the company has open doors to markets of the European Union, the Russian Federation, CEFTA member countries, the Middle East, North Africa and the Baltic region.
The company is equipped with the latest technology, which effectively produces soy products, thereby keeping the nutritive and biological value of soybean.
Installing a new "Wenger" extruder enabled the expansion of product range of textured products and opened the possibility for one-third of processed soybean to go to highly profitable products. Also, the factory is equipped with a new line for production of soy flour and a modern line for packaging and stacking bags on pallets. Among the executed and current investments we should mention the construction of a biomass boiler room, purchase of equipment for milling of fatty, non-skimmed materials, installation of a new plant for the production of vegetarian pâtés and expanding the capacity of the extrusion line.
The most significant investment in the coming period is construction of factory for the production of soy isolates and concentrates, whose capacity will be 15,000 tons of products annually. In terms of designing, making conceptual solutions and preparatory activities, the company has already invested over 1.5 million euros, while the planned total investment value is around 40 million euros.
Research and development activities at the factory are focused on expanding the production program, both by expanding the existing product range, and also by introducing completely new production programs which are based on products of a higher degree of added value. Within its production activities, the company insists on complying with quality standards ISO 9001-2001, HACCP, Kosher and Halal.
